Prevent and Safeguarding

At Allesley Hall Primary School, safeguarding children is our highest priority. As part of our safeguarding responsibilities, we are committed to protecting children and families from the risk of radicalisation and extremism.

The Government’s Prevent Strategy recognises the importance of safeguarding children and young people from being drawn into extremist ideas or behaviours. Extremism can include views that promote intolerance, hatred or violence, whether linked to political, religious, sexist or racist ideologies. Such views can leave individuals vulnerable to harm and future exploitation.

We value freedom of speech and the respectful expression of beliefs and ideas. These are fundamental to our society and are actively encouraged within our school community. However, freedom of expression comes with responsibility. Speech or actions that seek to manipulate, intimidate or harm others, or that promote intolerance or violence, are not acceptable and are contrary to our school values. Freedom of speech is protected within the law and is balanced by our duty to promote equality, human rights, community safety and cohesion.

Allesley Hall Primary School is committed to providing a safe, secure and inclusive environment where children feel protected and supported. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff and governors understand their role in keeping children safe, regardless of their position or level of direct contact with pupils. Our Preventing Extremism and Radicalisation Policy sits within our wider safeguarding framework and supports our duty to promote children’s welfare.

All staff and governors receive regular training on the Prevent duty. Ongoing professional development and close working with external agencies ensure that we remain informed, vigilant and able to respond appropriately to any concerns, helping us to safeguard all children effectively.

The Prevent Lead at Allesley Hall Primary School is the Headteacher - Mr Duncan Cottrill
